The Rootstock ecosystem is the first Bitcoin layer 2, and most secure DeFi ecosystem built on and secured by Bitcoin, offering an array of DeFi services that cover staking, lending, loans, yield farming, and more. At Bitcoin 2022, Rootstock will showcase this ecosystem at the world’s biggest Bitcoin event to an audience of 35,000, boosted by the Carnaval platform launch for minting NFTs on Bitcoin for the first time.
This year’s Bitcoin 2022 conference in Miami takes place from April 6 to April 9. The following DeFi for Bitcoin projects will be present, showcasing the capabilities of decentralized finance on Rootstock:
- Money on Chain– decentralized, non-custodial DeFi protocol that improves Bitcoin performance.
- Sovryn– margin trading, yield farming and staking with Bitcoin.
- Babelfish– aggregates and standardizes stablecoins across chains.
- Liquality– a multichain non-custodial and secure browser extension wallet where you can atomically swap BTC and RBTC.
- Bulla Network– an accounting app that allows users to invoice and track payments from multiple cryptocurrencies in one ledger.
- Carnaval– highly curated NFT marketplace of Iberoamerican artists.
Launching Carnaval at the Conference – NFTs on Bitcoin
The highly anticipated Carnaval platform will officially go live at the Bitcoin 2022 conference, showcasing NFTs from leading Iberoamerican artists minted on Bitcoin thanks to smart contracts on Rootstock. This NFT platform is the first Latin American such marketplace using Bitcoin with highly curated art pieces with some related to physical ones. What’s more, Carnaval is the first implementation of the RIF Marketplace engine.
The platform is launching a unique collection called Carnaval Genesis Drop on April 6th at 10 am EST along with the BITCOIN GENESIS DROP – the 210 first NFTs of Iberoamerican art collection on top of the Bitcoin network.
The Carnaval Genesis Drop collection will be released as 10,000 generative NFT PFPs that reflect the world-famous work of Magritte’s Son of the Man. Additionally, 15 Carnaval Masks, in which creative process well-known artists were involved will be available and each of the holders will be able to access the private cocktail party that Carnaval is hosting at Gitano-Faena in Miami on April 10th at 12 noon.
RIF offers decentralized protocols and services built using Rootstock smart contracts, building the infrastructure needed to bootstrap the Bitcoin DeFi ecosystem. Carnaval has integrated RIF’s marketplace engine, an open-source and fully audited suite of SDK libraries that significantly reduces time to market for decentralized NFT marketplaces.
What is Rootstock, and what is its aim?
Rootstock is a layer two solution on Bitcoin, bringing smart contracts to the Bitcoin ecosystem for the first time, and secured by on average 60% of BTC hashing power through merged mining. Rootstock opens the door to more functions of the most secure Bitcoin ecosystem by providing smart contracts and more significant scalability. This platform provides startups and entrepreneurs a new way of accessing the DeFi world based on the most secure chain. Thanks to this, it can become the basis of the future financial system.
Rootstock Co-Founder’s panel: “Sidechains: Benefits and Tradeoffs”
In addition, Rootstock co-founder Diego Zaldivar, will be discussing sidechains and their benefits and tradeoffs with other speakers.
“In the last two years, we witnessed the meteoric rise of DeFi. New monetary systems (stablecoins) and speculative financial tools (trading engines and AMMs) were built on top of the main blockchain networks but they only serve the needs of speculators. The challenge ahead is how to connect these new decentralized Fintech systems with the needs of the rest of society. That is our challenge at RootstockLabs and the reason why we created Rootstock and RIF, building everyday DeFi.” says Diego Gutierrez Zaldivar.
The panel will take place on the 8th of April, Friday, 1:00 PM – 1:40 PM EDT at the Open Source Stage.
